Wow 20 favs, I know it's not much but that's an accomplishment for me hehe.

Interesting Fact: (not to brag, I promise) This picture is ONE of the best pictures of M51 in existance according to Adam Block at Kitt Peak observatory near Tuscon, AZ.

Reccently, the Hubble Heritage program set its eyes on the enormous galaxy (in the sky at least) and took a collage of photos becoming the longest Heritage project.

Luminance = 160 minutes binned 1x1
Red = 30 minutes binned 2x2
Green = 30 minutes binned 2x2
Blue = 30 minutes binned 2x2

Yeah but of course through the naked eye in any telescope it doesn't quite look like that, you can see the shapes and it looks like a fuzzy object. These exposures were very long and extremely well tracked since the earth is constantly rotating.
